About 40 million foreign and American tourists visit New York City each year. Also you can visit other outstanding places like the Empire State Building, Ellis Island, th e Broadway theatre, Central Park, Washington Square Park, the Rockefeller Center, the Times Square, the Bronx Zoo, New York Botanical Garden, walk on the Fifth and Madison Avenues and the major tourist attraction and one of the recognizable icons, the Statue of Liberty.
Now I will explain a brief description of accommodation, lifestyle, dress code, working opportunities and policies for foreigners.
New York is not a calm place for your relaxing, you should know, that is a very congest, with a lot of movement, traffic, as I said, its called the city that never sleep. Its very cosmopolita. Like in other places you are going to find something depends of your budget, from 5 stars hotels to apartments with all included. Some of the hotels you can get in contact are:Midtown East Sheraton, Carlton New York, Trump Intl. Hotel, Sheraton Meadowlands, etc.
According to the lifestyle, New York is full of variety, because the concentration of immigrants living there. In that way, you are going to find a multicultural place, the immigrants get in their own groups, for talk, buy, work and also be connected with people of the same country, they have they own towns in the city. But at the same time, this gave us the opportunity to have a food culture, influenced by them, having a diverse of dining patrons. For example, the Jewish and Italian immigrants made the city famous for bagels, cheescake and New York sytle pizza. Some 4,000 mobile food vendors licensed by the city, many inmigrant-owned, have made Middle Eastern foods such as falafels and kebabs standbys of contemporary New York street food. The city is also home to many of the finest haute cuisine restaurants in the United States.
Now, going through the dress code we have to talk first about the climate. New York city has cold winters but the city’s coastal position keeps temperatures slightly warmer than inland regions. Spring and autum are erratic, it can change from cold and snowy to hot and humid, also they could be cold or cool and rainy. Summer is humid and warm. The winter are tipically cold, and sometimes they have snowstorms that can paralyze the city. They can have occasionally large variations in the temperature between one day and the next one. So, with this information we can define wich kind of clothes we have to use in every season. The people use what they want and the way they wanted to used, nobody is going to judge you for the way you are dessed, the most important thing is that you feel really comfortable with your dressing.
New York can help you to having different working oportunities, all depends what do you want to do. But first you should have all your documents up to date, for being more surely that you are legally and don't have any problem in the contry. Like in other countries, you have a lot of opportunities of work, but all depends of you, you have to be very interested and have all the energy in the work your are going to realize. In the case that you are a foreign, you must have all your documents and permissions to be there, permissions that the same company gave you to work with them and to live in a particular state. Maybe in some companies your are going to have the facilities to chose your schedule, so you can have more than 1 job if you needed. As I told you at the beginning, being New York a multicultural city, you should found many opportunities with different cultures, in that way you can share and learn about them.
Being yourself and having friends at work creates a more fulfilled life and greater productivity. Casual friends make a valuable contribution at work and in business by aiding productivity, fostering a greater sense of teamwork, providing a sounding board for your ideas or your projects, and helping you feel as if you are part of a "family" in the world of work.
